Job Description

We are looking for a talented and compassionate Virtual School Sign Language Interpreter to support K-12 students for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. This is a remote, 1099 contracted position, where you'll play a crucial role in ensuring that students with hearing impairments have full access to their education. The ideal candidate will be skilled in American Sign Language (ASL) and have a strong background in working with students in an educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:
Virtual Interpretation: Provide live, real-time sign language interpretation during online classes, meetings, and school activities for students with hearing impairments.
Collaborative Support: Work closely with teachers, staff, and students to facilitate effective communication and ensure students' needs are met throughout their learning experience.
Adaptability: Adjust your interpreting approach to support students with varying degrees of hearing loss, as well as diverse educational needs and learning styles.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the services provided, ensuring compliance with educational standards and regulations.

Qualifications:
Required Certification: Must hold an ASL Educational Licensure for the state of Kentucky.
Proficiency in ASL: Strong command of American Sign Language (ASL) with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly.
Experience: Prior experience as a sign language interpreter in a school or educational environment is preferred.
Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with virtual learning platforms and technology to provide seamless interpretation in an online setting.
Communication Skills: Strong communication and organizational abilities, with the capacity to work collaboratively in a virtual setting.
Self-Management: Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and stay organized while balancing multiple responsibilities.
