About Hollywood Toys & Costumes: For 75 years, Hollywood Toys & Costumes has catered to tourists, locals, and movie studios alike. Consistently named “The Best Costume Shop” in Los Angeles, we carry the widest selection of adult’s and children’s costumes, wigs, masks, jewelry, make-up, novelties, and magic. We are a high-volume retail business expanding to include decorative and costume contact lenses. We are seeking multiple professional Retail Dispensing Opticians. This is a hands-on Sales Associate position with a specialized focus on safe and legal contact lens sales. Our commitment to our customers' health and safety is our top priority.

Job Responsibilities:

Dispensing Duties:

• When assisting customers with contact lens purchases, this role will be responsible for ensuring all sales are conducted safely and legally.
• Verify and process valid contact lens prescriptions from licensed eye care professionals.
• Educate customers on proper insertion, removal, care, and maintenance of their contact lenses.
• Maintain accurate customer records and manage inventory specific to contact lenses.

Compliance:

• Ensure all contact lens sales operations are in full compliance with the California State Board of Optometry and the requirements of our Registered Dispensing Ophthalmic Business (RDO) registration.

Retail Sales Associate Duties:

• Provide excellent customer service by actively engaging with customers throughout the store, guiding them through product selection, and answering general inquiries in a high-volume sales environment.
• Maintain an extensive knowledge of all products carried in the store, including costumes, wigs, accessories, and novelties, to provide informed recommendations.
• Managing sales transactions using a point-of-sale (POS) system.
• Handle cash and credit card transactions with accuracy and security.

Qualifications:

• Must be a  Registered Contact Lens Dispenser (RCLD)in California.
• A passing score on the  National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE) exam is required
• Proven point-of-sale (POS) and cash handling experience in a high-volume retail setting.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• A strong commitment to accuracy, legal compliance, and patient safety.
• Experience in a retail environment is a plus.

Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
