Job Description

Title: Fashion Designer - Hybrid Role
Industry:  Apparel & Fashion
Location: Montreal, QC
Position Status: Full-time, permanent
Hours:  Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (3 days in office, 2 days at home)
Compensation and Benefits : $50,000 - $85,000/year, based on experience

This position is only open to residents of Canada who have legal work authorization.

Job Overview:

Our client, a Montreal-based fashion wholesale apparel company with North-American and international customers, is seeking a talented and passionate  Fashion Designer to join their team.

The ideal candidate will bring creativity, strong technical skills, and an understanding of both the artistic and practical aspects of fashion design. The candidate must thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and be dedicated to delivering high-quality products on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create technical sketches in Adobe Illustrator, presenting all garment details and views (front, back, and inside) to ensure clear communication of garment construction to vendors.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive tech packs, ensuring they are accurate and up to date.
  • Oversee and follow up on fabric approvals, lab dips, strike-offs, trims, and packaging materials.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, manufacturers, vendors, and clients to ensure product specifications are feasible and aligned with design vision.
  • Organize and maintain design and product development files for easy access and reference.
  • Design and create prints and patterns, tailoring designs to meet customer standards and preferences.
  • Stay informed about current fashion trends and customer preferences in order to guide design direction.
  • Curate and present mood boards to visually communicate design concepts.
  • Coordinate with the production team to ensure the quality of products and timely delivery.
  • Document and preserve all design work, illustrations, layouts, and technical sheets for future reference.

Technical Requirements:

  • Fashion design diploma (or equivalent) is required.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, and Word.
  • Experience in menswear or ladies' knits is an asset.
  • Fluent in English (French is a plus).

Qualifications:

  • A strong understanding of garment construction, fabric types, and manufacturing processes.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to adapt to customer preferences and fashion trends.
  • Experience in creating and developing mood boards, tech packs, and full collections.
