Job Description

The UI/UX Designer position will create and design user-centered designs for digital products, such as applications, websites, and software. Guide the software design vision by conducting user research and creating wireframe solutions. Balance the needs of the users with the technical constraints of the development teams. Understand human centered design practices/UI/UX design and agile methodologies while collaborating with many teams to create a unified look and feel to different projects across the organization. Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Collaborate and consult the courts of Michigan, SCAO and other stakeholders to gain an understanding of current processes, needs, and challenges;
  • Assist in the creation and upkeep of design standards;
  • Facilitate workshops and activities with end-users, developers and internal stakeholders;
  • Establish and demonstrate the key points found from user research and related activities;
  • Execute all visual design stages from concept to development team hand-off;
  • Develop UI mockups and prototypes using wireframes, storyboards, sitemaps, etc.;
  • Work on projects from inception to launch and/or enhancing existing software performing tasks such as conceptual design, requirement gathering, interface documentation and specification;
  • Drive product design across the organization, platforms and products;
  • Collaborate with development teams to negotiate designs and technical difficulties;
  • A deep understanding of user-centered design principles and the ability to create designs that meet user needs and expectations;
  • Skill in crafting interactive and intuitive user interfaces that guide users through their tasks and workflows. Understanding interactions, animations, and transitions to enhance the user experience;
  • Create interactive prototypes that showcase the flow and functionality of the design

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

EXPERIENCE: Two or more years of experience working as a User Interface/User Experience designer focused on desktop and mobile applications; two or more years of experience creating interface designs and using prototyping software such as Figma, Storybook, Adobe XD, etc.; experience conducting research with end users such as usability testing, interviews, focus groups; experience with and desire to work in an Agile/SCRUM team environment and experience with project management tools like JIRA, Aha!, Azure DevOps.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Comprehensive knowledge in the following User Research techniques: A/B Testing, Contextual Inquiries, and Persona Definition;
  • Familiar with user testing practices;
  • Knowledge with common, modern, design paradigms for interactions, features, and workflows in software products.

Salary Range: $83,874.96 - $109,954.08

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work is typically within an office and/or remote environment.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel within the state will be required on a varying basis.
