Job Summary

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Estimator to join our commercial team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for large-scale commercial projects, supporting bid submissions, and contributing to strategic pricing decisions. This role requires strong analytical skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to collaborate across departments to ensure competitive and profitable proposals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for commercial projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive estimates.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to gather necessary data and insights.
• Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Develop and maintain cost databases and historical data for benchmarking.
• Participate in bid strategy meetings and support tender submissions.
• Identify and assess project risks and opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and industry standards.
• Provide mentoring and guidance to junior estimators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in estimating within the commercial sector.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing.
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating).
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong commercial acumen and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Design & Build and EPC contracts.
• Familiarity with BIM and digital estimating tools.
• Membership in a professional body (e.g., RICS, AACE, CIQS) is an asset.
