Procurement Manager – Bronx Distribution Center

Compensation: 120-150k

Location: The Bronx, NY

(MUST HAVE 3 YEARS OF PERISHABLE GOODS EXPERIENCE)

Position Summary:

Our client is seeking a seasoned Procurement Manager to oversee purchasing operations at their Bronx distribution center. This role is critical for ensuring the efficient sourcing and supply of perishable inventory, including food ingredients, packaging, raw materials, and other essential supplies. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic approach to procurement, with a strong focus on supplier development, cost management, and maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers who consistently deliver high-quality perishable goods
  • Negotiate favorable terms and conditions, balancing cost savings with value and quality
  • Evaluate supplier performance and implement corrective actions to ensure supply chain integrity
  • Forecast demand using data and market trends to minimize waste and optimize inventory
  • Develop strategies to maintain optimal inventory levels and reduce spoilage
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and internal quality standards
  • Oversee shelf-life management and implement efficient storage and rotation systems
  • Manage the procurement budget and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Conduct cost analyses to inform strategic purchasing decisions
  • Develop contingency plans for potential supply chain disruptions
  • Monitor market trends and adjust procurement strategies proactively
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, marketing, logistics, and quality assurance teams
  • Maintain clear communication with stakeholders and provide regular procurement updates
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience, with at least 3 years focused on perishable goods
  • Demonstrated expertise in negotiation to secure optimal terms and value
  • Proven ability to balance cost efficiency with high product quality
  • Comprehensive knowledge of both direct and indirect procurement processes
  • Strong vendor relationship management and supply chain oversight
  • Experience in food production/manufacturing is a plus
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
