Job Description
We are seeking an experienced purchasing manager to handle procurement activities at our JFK facility. The ideal candidate will develop purchasing strategies, maintain positive relationships with suppliers, coordinate with internal teams regarding their supply needs, and oversee the purchasing team in their daily activities. In addition, the Purchasing Manager will take on key procurement responsibilities to ensure cost-effective sourcing, contract management, and supplier performance monitoring.
Essential Functions
- Manage and oversee all procurement processes, ensuring that products and services are purchased in alignment with company goals and budgetary constraints.
- Plan, coordinate, and direct purchasing functions, ensuring the timely procurement of necessary goods and services while optimizing cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
- Implement and maintain effective procurement strategies that focus on cost reduction, including negotiations with vendors to secure the most competitive pricing.
- Maintain and develop positive relationships with suppliers, ensuring consistent product quality, reliable delivery schedules, and adherence to contractual terms.
- Work closely with internal teams to assess their supply needs and develop procurement solutions that support operational requirements.
- Ensure procurement processes comply with corporate food service standards, relevant regulations (including HACCP and FDA guidelines), and best practices for food safety and sanitation.
- Oversee and manage the ETEC system operations to facilitate efficient procurement and inventory management.
- Continuously monitor and control procurement costs to meet budgeted financial goals and maintain cost-effectiveness across all purchasing categories.
- Prepare reports on procurement activities, including spend analysis, vendor performance, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Supervise and support the purchasing team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager or leadership team.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of related purchasing and procurement experience, preferably in a highvolume and diverse product environment.
- Strong negotiation skills and a proven track record of achieving cost reductions.
- In-depth knowledge of procurement strategies, contract management, and vendor relations.
- Knowledge of HACCP, FDA guidelines, and other food safety and sanitation standards.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.
