POSITION SUMMARY:
Staff Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) is responsible for providing occupational therapy services under the supervision of a registered occupational therapist in accordance with the patients’ plan of care. The certified occupational therapy assistant will screen patients, education patient and family, utilize exercises including administering occupational therapy modalities, treatment, and rehabilitative procedures for individuals limited by physical injury or illness, a dysfunctional condition, cognitive impairment, psychosocial dysfunction, mental illness, a developmental or learning disability whether due to trauma, illness, or condition present at birth. Some travel may be required in the provision of services between facilities and job functions. This position summary contains the most relevant duties, responsibilities and does not exclude other assignments not mentioned.

Membership in professional organization preferred
3. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.
EDUCATION / LICENSURE:
1. Licensure in the State of Texas as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant
2. Clinical experience preferred
3. Must have and maintain current BCLS certification, according to unit specific needs. Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider’s Program.
