Job Description

Our business partner is part of an international manufacturing organization with 150+ years of experience. They are financially sound and growing. We are looking for a Materials Engineer with experience in plastic processing methods for one of their plants near Findlay, Ohio.

Job Summary:

Responsible for developing, testing, and evaluating thermoplastic compounds, supporting production processes, and managing projects to improve material performance and processing. Provides technical support for customers and collaborates on new compound development.

Coordinates with: Engineers, Technicians, Quality Assurance, Production, Sales, Customers, and Material Suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and tests thermoplastic compounds per APQP requirements.
  • Supports production with material processing and technical troubleshooting.
  • Provides technical assistance to customers on material use.
  • Manages projects to enhance compound performance and processing.
  • Collaborates on new material development with the Corporate Materials Group.
  • Maintains vendor relationships and ensures compliance with industry standards (ISO/TS 16949, ISO 14001).
  • Adheres to hazardous materials safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in thermoplastic materials, testing, and processing (10-15 years of experience if no degree)
  • Knowledge of plastic processing methods and compounding of thermoplastic materials
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong communication skills.
  • Must have experience on the production floor, not just lab work
