About the Direct Support Professional Position

We are looking for a qualified DSP to care for our individuals in a professional and compassionate manner. It's often a demanding job, but it can also be very gratifying. 

The ideal candidate will be dependable and courteous with outstanding communication skills. You should be able to follow instructions and perform a variety of tasks to help individuals.

DSP Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (doctor's appointments, walks, etc.)

• Assist individual with personal care and hygiene (as needed, if/when they need help).

• Help individual's complete goals they have.

• Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the individuals (if/when they are able)

• Do the individual's shopping or accompany them when they shop

• Perform light housekeeping duties that individuals can't complete on their own

• Be a pleasant and supportive DSP

• Report any unusual incidents

• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

DSP Requirements

• Proven experience in the supported field

• Valid Driver License and Social Security card

• Updated CPR/First Aid certification

• Updated TB test

• Valid car insurance

• Ability to pass several background checks and drug screen

• Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints

• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards

• Respectful and compassionate

• Good time management skills

• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong ethics

• Physical endurance
