At Common Market SouthEnd, the Kitchen Manager will "own" their deli, overseeing staff, budgets, and daily operations. This role offers a unique work-life balance with a daytime-focused schedule, allowing you to enjoy evenings while ensuring the deli thrives during peak hours. The position requires weekend availability and provides a competitive salary of $50,000-$55,000 per year , plus an incentivized bonus structure that rewards your success and growth.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Overseeing Daily Kitchen Operations : Manage all aspects of the kitchen to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • Staff Scheduling and Training : Develop and manage staff schedules; train and mentor kitchen personnel.
  • Inventory Management : Order ingredients, materials, and supplies based on business trends to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Quality Control : Ensure all dishes meet the restaurant's quality and safety standards.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with the General Manager and other departments to drive sales and formulate overall strategy.
  • Maintaining Cleanliness : Ensure the kitchen is clean, organized, and complies with health and safety regulations.
  • Budget Management : Maintain budgets to achieve predetermined margins and set goals for growth.
  • Employee Development : Coach and lead current employees, coordinate training for new hires, and foster a productive work environment.

  • Handling non-kitchen-related administrative tasks.
  • Performing tasks outside the scope of kitchen operations.

Kitchen Manager Key Responsibilities

As the Kitchen Manager, you will lead the kitchen team, ensuring efficient operations and consistently high food quality. Your leadership will be pivotal in creating memorable dining experiences and driving the success of Common Market SouthEnd.

Kitchen Manager Basic Requirements:

  • Experience : Previous experience in kitchen management is required; business experience is preferred.
  • Education : High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Skills : Strong culinary knowledge, exceptional customer service, excellent communication, outstanding organizational and leadership abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Physical Requirements : Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 30 lbs, stand for prolonged periods, and work in a kitchen environment with exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Other : Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a personal vehicle; bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.
