Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an Assistant Managing Editor located in Fort Worth, TX. The Assistant Managing Editor is the No. 2 position in our newsroom and will be responsible for overseeing daily news operations, managing editorial content, collaborating with reporters and editors, and ensuring the quality and accuracy of content. We won more journalism awards than any other news organization in our category in the most recent Texas Managing Editors competition. You're the right person if you can help us build on this standard of excellence.

Qualifications

  • Strong editorial skills, including writing, editing, and fact-checking
  • Five years of experience in newsroom management and editorial decision-making (This could be a great fit for a top experienced reporter looking to move into more of a leadership role)
  • Knowledge of AP style and journalistic ethics
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field
  • Experience with online publishing platforms and newsletters
  • Ability to thrive in startup and rapidly growing environment
