Schedule

Full-time position open. FT-80 hours per pay period (every two weeks). Every other weekend. Wage Range-$16.75-21.15

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Activity Director, the Activity Assistant is responsible for assisting with the planning, the coordination and the implementation of the Activity Programs. The programs shall be scheduled on a daily basis and shall make every effort to meet the comprehensive needs and interests of all the residents.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Assist residents to and from activity programs.
  • Assist and/or lead assigned group or one to one activity programs.
  • Encourage residents to participate in recreational social activities so that all residents are involved in activities by engaging in and organizing events, groups, religious services, parties, etc.
  • Implement activities procedures as directed by the Activity Director by creating decorations, setting up necessary equipment, and creating topics for groups.
  • Report any changes in resident behavior, safety hazards or difficulties to the Activity Director or Charge Nurse.
  • Prepare and distribute daily e-mails, and daily mail to residents.
  • Post weekly calendar/monthly calendar at designated areas.
  • Assist in evaluation of each resident according to their backgrounds, activity interests, abilities, physical limitations, and needs for meaningful activity programs.
  • Maintain and chart daily charting on Point Click Care and/or Epic.
  • Assist in maintaining current calendar of events, church groups, hair care appointments, birthday party, birthday dinners, special programming, visits one to one, weekly shopping per resident request, and any other varied activity.
  • Assist and participate at staff meetings, in-service training programs, and care plan meetings as delegated by the Activity Director.
  • Assist in maintaining equipment and supplies, store rooms in a neat and safe environment.
  • Make activity announcements over the intercom as needed.
  • Plan and participate in resident outings to courtyard areas, cart ride, bus rides.
  • Assist in planning monthly programming and evaluate effectiveness of a variety/seasonal programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all residents’ information.
  • Keep current and implement facility safety rules.
  • Organize time and establish priorities, supervise and direct others, assume and delegate responsibility, accept advice.
  • Decorate resident’s areas monthly/seasonally providing a home-like environment.
  • Sew name labels on resident clothing with sewing machine as made available in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with resident families in a professional manner.
  • Attend care conferences.
  • Oversee/assist volunteers
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Activity Director.

Education / Experience

  • High school diploma or its equivalent is preferred.
  • Basic Activity Program Course is optional.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of various resident activities and have familiarity with residents’ needs and limitations.
  • Previous Activities experience preferred but not required – on the job training provided.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Must possess the ability to work independently and make decisions that require initiative and judgement in order to effectively plan, organize and delegate work assignments.
