Job Description

The Senior Vice President, Acquisitions will lead the Preservation team’s national acquisition strategy, focusing on properties emerging from the 15-year LIHTC compliance period or Naturally Occurring Affordable Housing (NOAH). This executive will oversee the full lifecycle of acquisitions from sourcing and underwriting to closing and integration—while managing a high-performing team and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. The SVP will play a critical role in scaling the company’s portfolio and ensuring investment decisions align with both financial goals and mission-driven outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic direction and execution of the company’s Preservation investment platform.
  • Manage and mentor a growing team, including Vice Presidents and Associates, ensuring excellence in underwriting, deal execution, and portfolio growth.
  • Oversee the design and refinement of acquisition models, underwriting standards, and investment criteria.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with brokers, sellers, lenders, and public/private partners to source high quality acquisition opportunities.
  • Evaluate and approve investment opportunities, including portfolio-level transactions, with a focus on former LIHTC properties, NOAH, and other preservation strategies.
  • Collaborate with finance, legal, asset management, and development teams to ensure seamless deal execution and long-term asset performance.
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences, investor meetings, and public forums to enhance visibility and deal flow.
  • Monitor market trends, policy developments, and regulatory changes impacting affordable housing investment.

Experience and Professional Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in real estate acquisitions, affordable housing, or investment management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Experience in LIHTC, HUD programs, tax-exempt bond financing, and preservation strategies.
  • Proven track record of sourcing and closing complex multifamily transactions, including portfolio acquisitions.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills.
  • Advanced financial modeling and investment analysis capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree, a Masters degree is a plus.
