Job Description

Job Title: Staff Electrical Engineer

Location: Boston, MA

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Electrical Engineer to lead the development of electrical hardware for advanced robotic medical devices. This role will involve hands-on design work as well as collaboration with embedded systems and mechanical engineering teams to solve complex, real-world engineering problems. You will also help shape the overall architecture and direction of the electrical system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design electronic hardware for complex robotic systems
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers on PCBA physical layout
  • Support embedded team with processing and sensing requirements
  • Select components, perform schematic capture, and board layout using Altium
  • Develop and maintain assembly and test equipment
  • Perform board-level reliability assessments and diagnostics
  • Conduct testing and create documentation for hardware systems
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to product and technology teams
  • Define, manage, and track project goals, timelines, and deliverables
  • Recommend and implement design improvements as needed
  • Set strategic direction for electrical system development
  • Mentor junior engineers and lead technical teams toward successful project execution

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
  • 8+ years of experience in electrical/electronics hardware design
  • Experience in designing medical devices , especially to IEC 60601 standards
  • Proficiency in Altium Designer and PLM tools
  • Hands-on experience with flex circuits , PCB technologies, and board layout
  • Strong understanding of interfaces such as SPI, I2C, USB, MIPI, and Ethernet
  • Experience with inductive sensing , high-speed sampling, switching power supplies, BLDC motors , and analog/digital conversion
  • Knowledge of EMC, EMI, and ESD mitigation techniques
  • Experience in designing for test (DFT) and developing test fixtures for manufacturing
