Job Description

Job Summary
The safety specialist role will support the development and implementation of programs and strategy leading to a sustainable culture of safety and health across all Walgreens business units. This role in partnership with the corporate safety manager and business unit stakeholders will develop consistent, effective safety programs and practices, provide training tools and processes for measuring safety outcomes.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assists in the development and implementation of effective, sustainable safety programs per regulatory requirements of specific business units
  • Implements and leads injury/illness prevention and safety awareness strategy
  • Conducts, monitors and utilizes occupational health and safety compliance assessments to recommend and implement process/program improvements
  • Communicates and educates team members on occupational safety and health standards and practices
  • Identifies and communicates safety policies and process change requirements that address exposure to risk and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Identifies opportunities to instill the culture of safety and health through innovation and optimization of programs and practices.
  • Provides proactive, effective and consistent safety program support to all business units.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 5 years of experience in the development and/or implementation of safety and health programs.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards.
  • Experience conducting safety assessments.
  • Experience providing employee training
  • Willing to travel up to/at least 30% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety.
  • Experience in a retail environment.
