Job Description

As a Software Architect, you will design and govern innovative solutions for our new US Sports Betting and Trading platform.

You will contribute to and oversee our departmental systems architecture, ensuring alignment with our departmental architecture vision and strategic objectives. Leveraging your strong engineering background and operational awareness, you will ensure that solutions are scalable, maintainable, and free from unnecessary complexity. As a key communicator, you will surface high-cost change decisions early in the design process and gain buy-in from relevant stakeholders.

As a driving force behind this initiative, you will collaborate closely with fellow Architects and technical leadership teams, including Principal Engineers, Technical Leads, Senior Engineers and Subject Matter Experts (SME’s), assisting in driving out an architecture roadmap to deliver platforms as a pivotal part of our Organization's future growth and success.

This role is critical role in designing solutions that meet product and strategic requirements whilst providing effective support and governance.

This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.

The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $185,000 annually.

Main Responsibilities

  • Designing architecture solutions in line with the holistic platform architecture vision for the US Sports Betting and Trading platform.
  • Ensuring the impact of solutions on the wider technology base is understood and engaging with all impacted stakeholders.
  • Creating vision documents and other artefacts to support, inform and disseminate the architecture.
  • De-risking technical change by completing or commissioning Proofs of Concept (POC).
  • Communicating the architecture effectively to senior management and technical leadership teams to ensure buy-in and understanding.
  • Providing support and governance to ensure that both the technical solution and the engineered solution align with the architecture vision.
  • Representing the department in architectural discussions, ensuring that the needs and obligations of the department are understood.
  • Collaborating with the department’s leadership teams to continually develop and improve the architecture of the products owned and developed by the department.
  • Contributing to discussions regarding best-fit technologies, approaches and tools, particularly in the context of trading systems.
  • Ensuring skill sets remain relevant within the changing technology landscape, identifying technology trends that feed into continuous improvement.

Preferred Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Exceptional communication skills, whilst being capable of managing multiple streams of activity.
  • Self-motivated initiator, capable of working autonomously with minimal supervision and shifting focus as required.
  • Profound passion for technology, underpinned by robust engineering principles and leadership capabilities.
  • Recognized expertise in core departmental technologies, with a strong ability to solve problems creatively using devise innovative solutions.
  • Proficient in abstracting and simplifying complex systems for stakeholder comprehension.
  • Proven track record of creating green-field solutions, demonstrating the ability to innovate from the ground up within complex environments.
  • Extensive experience in distributed systems architecture, high throughput and low latency systems, high availability, functional and immutable data models, micro-services, N-tiered architecture and classic infrastructure fields.
  • Experience in Cloud technologies and designing for the Cloud is essential, Google GCP expertise is desirable.
  • Ability to provide guidance and mentoring to Principal Engineers, Technical Leads, Senior Engineers and SMEs.
  • Experience specific to the sports betting industry is a significant advantage.
