St. Margaret’s Episcopal School Campus Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the school campus. This includes monitoring activities, preventing unauthorized access, responding to emergencies, and enforcing school policies. This position reports directly to the Security Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
● Assist parents and visitors with directions and information, providing a welcoming atmosphere.
● Monitor the school premises and grounds to ensure safety and security.
● Manage and direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic during pick-up and dismissal times and special events.
● Conduct regular patrols of the campus to deter and detect suspicious activities.
● Respond to incidents, emergencies, and alarms in a timely manner.
● Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
● Assist with the implementation of safety protocols and emergency procedures.
● Provide support during school events, ensuring safety and security measures are in place.
● Maintain accurate records of DAR’s, incidents, observations, and activities.
● Communicate effectively with students, professional community, and parents regarding safety concerns.
● Attend training sessions to stay updated on security practices and protocols.
● Work may involve standing for extended periods, as well as walking and patrolling the campus
● May require working evenings, weekends, or during school events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● 10 years of previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
● Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to remain calm and make decisions in emergency situations.
● Knowledge of safety and security protocols.
● CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
● Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
● Current BSIS Guard Card
