About the Project:

Princeton University is constructing a new state-of-the-art engineering building. The institution will be designed and constructed to achieve the highest possible level of functionality, durability, and flexibility. Research and teaching will be made visible, and the design will support curricular and co-curricular activities with spaces that are warm, inviting, and inclusive. The building will be organized in a way that provides fluid, intuitive, and convenient pathways to multiple destinations.

About the Role:

As a Schedule Engineer at The AKA Team, you will play a key role in supporting the development, maintenance, and analysis of construction project schedules. You’ll work closely with project managers, field teams, and stakeholders to ensure schedules are realistic, up-to-date, and aligned with project goals. From preconstruction planning to on-site coordination, this role is ideal for detail-oriented individuals who enjoy problem-solving, data analysis, and driving project timelines forward. Relocation is required if candidate lives outside of the NJ area or driving distance from site. We are looking to hire someone in May 2025 and place them on the project no later than June 2025. This project runs through 2029.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain detailed construction project schedules using Primavera P6 and other scheduling tools.
  • Support preconstruction efforts by creating pursuit, proposal, and baseline schedules.
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and field teams to ensure accurate sequencing and alignment of project milestones.
  • Monitor project progress, collect updates, and incorporate changes into the schedule to reflect real-time conditions.
  • Analyze impacts of delays and changes, providing recommendations and recovery plans when necessary.
  • Generate and present schedule reports, visualizations, and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in project meetings to report on scheduling status and resolve issues.
  • Perform data mining and historical analysis to support continuous improvement in project planning.
  • Conduct quality reviews of schedules to ensure accuracy, compliance, and completeness.
  • Integrate cost-loading and resource data into schedules as needed to support budget tracking and forecasting.
  • Assist with training and onboarding of team members in scheduling best practices and software.
  • Support schedule-related RFI development, subcontractor coordination, and client communication.

Qualifications:

Required Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Engineering (Civil, Industrial, Mechanical), or a related technical discipline
  • Exposure to construction environments through internships, co-ops, trade work, or field experience (preferred but not required)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, blueprints, and construction drawings
  • Experience with, or a strong interest in, scheduling software, data analytics, and reporting tools

Software Proficiency:

  • CPM schedule software experience (Primavera P6 is a bonus)
  • Typical MS OAice suite of programs – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Collaborative platforms like MS Teams, Google Hang-Out, Zoom, Go-To (any other video conferencing)
  • Other pluses: Database management
