We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced RN Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist with a Registered Nurse (RN) background to enhance these clinical documentation practices, ensuring the highest levels of patient care and compliance with healthcare standards.
RN Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough chart reviews to ascertain and validate documentation, coding and billing practices
Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure clinical information is accurately and comprehensively documented
Provide education and training to staff on clinical documentation best practices, coding guidelines, and regulatory requirements
Participate in the development and implementation of CDI strategies to improve documentation, quality scores, and reimbursement
Monitor and analyze trends in clinical documentation; prepare and present reports to management and staff
Serve as a liaison between clinical staff and coding professionals to resolve discrepancies in documentation and coding
RN Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist Requirements:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a hospital setting
Prior experience in Clinical Documentation Improvement is highly desirable
Excellent understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology
Familiarity with coding concepts and guidelines (ICD-10, CPT codes) is an advantage
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism
