Job Description

Job Title: Owner's Representative - Solar Project Manager

Role Overview: Our client is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Owner's Representative to manage solar projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will act as the direct representative of the project owner, ensuring that all aspects of the project are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. This role requires a deep understanding of solar project development, construction, and management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership & Management:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, including developers, EPC contractors, engineers, and vendors.
  • Oversee and manage the entire project lifecycle, from site assessment and design through commissioning and closeout.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies proactively.
  • Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Contract & Vendor Management:
  • Review and negotiate contracts with EPC contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure all contractual obligations are met by all parties.
  • Manage change orders, claims, and disputes in a fair and effective manner.
  • Oversee the procurement of equipment and services, ensuring competitive pricing and timely delivery.
  • Technical & Quality Assurance:
  • Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and specifications.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure adherence to design, quality, and safety standards.
  • Oversee the commissioning process to verify the system's performance and functionality.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate with engineering teams to find solutions.
  • Budget & Financial Oversight:
  • Manage project budgets and track all expenditures.
  • Approve invoices and payment applications from contractors and vendors.
  • Analyze project costs and variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
  • Foster positive and collaborative relationships with all project stakeholders.
  • Facilitate regular meetings and communicate project updates clearly and concisely.
  • Address and resolve stakeholder concerns and issues promptly.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. PMP or other project management certification is a plus.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in solar or renewable energy project management.
  • Proven experience as an Owner's Representative or a similar role in managing large-scale solar projects.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Technical Knowledge:
  • In-depth knowledge of solar PV technologies, including modules, inverters, and racking systems.
  • Strong understanding of civil, electrical, and structural engineering principles related to solar projects.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, building codes).
  • Soft Skills:
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
