Job Description

Our client is seeking a Program and Volunteer Engagement Manager to join their team in New York City! The space and its programs serve to fill pockets of kosher and halal food needs by prioritizing dignity and accessibility in its programs, our online ordering platform, while offering an opportunity for our supporters to volunteer, help with projects, and learn more about the company’s commitments to NYC. This dual role is based on the Volunteer Services team and collaborates closely with our Food Programs team. The Program and Volunteer Engagement Manager will lead existing pantry operations, support engagement projects, run volunteer events, and manage pantry support staff and work to extend the program's reach, including overseeing existing external projects and pursuing strategic service opportunities. The manager will also collaborate with all our partners to broaden engagement opportunities.

  • 4 days on site, Friday work from home
  • Compensation: $70,000 to $75,000 per year.

  • Please note: This position is on-site four days per week and remote one day per week. Typical working hours are Monday through Thursday 9am to 6pm and Friday from 9 am to 3pm including occasional Sundays and additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage support staff members when related to pantry and work (agency temporary workers, fellows, interns, etc.). This includes assigning tasks to each staff member and providing training for the staff to ensure tasks are completed properly. Ensure all timesheets are correctly completed and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Learn how to use Pantry Management tools.
  • Create processes and manage communication channels to support the company’s needs and functions with Volunteer and Food Programs Operations.
  • Support pantry operations, satellite, and site communication.
  • Work with the Volunteer Services team to support engagement projects, new initiatives, and events including:
  • Working with volunteers, donors, and community groups on events to support company’s needs.
  • Supporting sharing the story of our work through media and branding
  • Always maintain the organization and cleanliness of the pantry.
  • Thoroughly manage inventory of the pantry, ensuring it is a fully stocked space with all necessary food and non-food essentials, including office and event supplies.
  • Communicate efficiently with support staff about deliveries and pickups in advance of deliveries.
  • Coordinate monthly delivery and pick up schedule with support staff.
  • Manage Pantry-based projects including but not limited to:
  • The continuation of the commuter campuses.
  • Student Interfaith Engagement Fellowship
  • The expansion of the work with Synagogues
  • Other relevant grants
  • Align with Food Programs on upcoming projects, grant compliance, and investments.
  • Keep up with mandatory Food Pantry Network and Market by Pantry Network trainings.
  • Prepare and oversee the food packing component of volunteer projects.
  • Ensure the space remains a welcoming, exciting, and functional place to sustain and grow program goals and activities.
  • Assist with preparation for volunteer events, including accepting deliveries and setting up food and non-food essential kits.
  • Ensure all volunteers scheduled to volunteer have tasks prepared for them to complete upon arrival for volunteer shift.
  • Always maintain communication with volunteers and the Volunteer Services team using the preferred methods and channels of the team.
  • Oversee deliveries arriving at the company and warehouse pick-ups.
  • Additional responsibilities as required.

  • Working knowledge of Office 365 including Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams (or comparable collaboration tools)

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Salesforce a plus
  • Significant organizational skills, with an ability to stay focused on assigned tasks
  • Bachelor’s degree (required)
  • Fluent In English (required) additional languages helpful
  • Comfort with technology (required)

  • Required Frequently: Standing and climbing stairs; carrying laptop & files (approx. 8-10 lbs.); lifting to 50 pounds; pushing and pulling.

  • Occasional Sunday and after-hours programming.
  • Increased involvement based on agency seasonal needs.
