Job Description

Pride Health is hiring a Pharmacy Techinician to support our client’s medical facility based in Austin, Texas. This opportunity is a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!

Responsibilities:

Assisting in Medication Preparation and Dispensing:

• Assist the pharmacist in repackaging and compounding medications.
• Support in the filling and delivery of medications.
• Perform tasks related to dispensing medications in a manner that is developmentally appropriate for all patient age groups (0 to adult).
• Assist in ensuring the appropriateness of medication doses by correctly entering patient’s diagnosis, weight, allergies, and body surface area into the computer system.

Controlled Substances:

• Assist in the procurement, record-keeping, storage, and distribution of all controlled substances.

Aseptic Technique and Infection Control:

• Follow aseptic techniques and infection control procedures in the preparation of sterile products.
• Complete annual recertification and score at least 90% on the aseptic technique/infection control skills and written exam, as documented by a qualified observer.
• Ensure other technicians and pharmacists adhere to aseptic technique and infection control practices.

Medication Verification and Error Prevention:

• Ensure medications are correct as verified by the pharmacist, with no dispensing errors documented.
• Demonstrate competence in batch/medication/prescription order entry.

Inventory Management:

• Work with Pharmacy Support Services personnel to maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies.
• Follow procedures for stock replacement and non-formulary requests.

Labeling and Documentation:

• Obtain pharmacist initial/final checks for medications.
• Assign dilution and expiration dating labels to medications according to department standards.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of current hospital and departmental standards for the handling of pharmaceuticals.
• Proficiency in math and reading skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to operate equipment used in the preparation of sterile products.
• RPHT-TX (Registered Pharmacy Technician - Texas State Board of Pharmacy)
• OR
• PHAR INT (Pharmacy Intern - State Board of Pharmacy)

Location: Austin, Texas

Job Type: Travel

Schedule: 4x10 Rotating – 6:30 AM - 11:30 PM - Weekends Rotation

Pay Range: $39/ hour-$40/ hour

*Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.
