Job Description

Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.

Overview

The People Analytics Analyst plays a crucial role in helping Joby make data-driven decisions about its most valuable asset: its people. Reporting to the Talent Development & Analytics Lead, this individual is responsible for transforming raw people data into actionable insights that empower our leaders and People team. The core focus of this role is to develop scalable reporting, build insightful dashboards, fulfill ad-hoc analytics requests, and interpret trends across the employee lifecycle. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical skills in data analysis and visualization and has a passion for telling stories with data to drive meaningful organizational change, while actively exploring and championing the use of advanced analytics and AI to shape the future of work at Joby.

This is a hybrid role requiring work from our Santa Cruz or San Carlos, CA office a minimum of three days per week to foster collaboration and accessibility to our colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Dashboard & Report Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable, self-service dashboards and reports using business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, R Markdown, Python, etc.) to provide leaders with access to key people metrics.
  • Ad-Hoc Analysis: Respond to and fulfill complex, ad-hoc data requests from stakeholders by gathering data from multiple sources, conducting thorough analysis, and presenting findings in a clear and understandable format.
  • Trend Interpretation & Storytelling: Analyze and interpret trends across the employee lifecycle—including recruiting, retention, demographics, performance, and engagement—to identify key insights, develop predictive models to forecast future outcomes, and translate findings into compelling narratives for business leaders.
  • Data Consultation: Act as an internal consultant, partnering with leaders to understand their challenges, proactively provide data-backed recommendations to inform talent strategies, and advise on the potential of new analytical technologies and AI-driven solutions.
  • Data Integrity: Collaborate with the People Systems team to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of people data used for reporting and analytics, and contribute to data governance practices.
  • Survey Analysis: Support the administration and analysis of employee listening programs, such as engagement and exit surveys, to derive insights that inform organizational improvements.

Required

  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in an analytics-focused role (e.g., people analytics, business intelligence, data analysis).
  • Advanced proficiency with a business intelligence and data visualization tool, such as Power BI.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform statistical analysis and translate complex datasets into business insights.
  • A strong sense of curiosity and a proactive mindset toward learning and applying new technologies and analytical methods.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to present data and recommendations clearly to a variety of audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Psychology, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science) or equivalent practical experience.

Desired

  • Direct experience working with HR/people data and HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, Greenhouse, ADP, iCIMS).
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and manipulation from various data sources. Experience with Databricks is a plus.
  • Experience with statistical programming languages such as R or Python for advanced or predictive analytics.
  • Familiarity with the practical applications of generative AI tools to accelerate analytics workflows and insight generation.
  • Knowledge of survey design, workforce planning, or statistical modeling as applied to HR challenges.
