National Packaging Manager- Food Manufacturing

ISC’s team of Hospitality Recruiters is partnering with a leading supplier of tomatoes and fresh vegetables in North America, on a National Packaging Manager opportunity. This rapidly growing company is not only well known for cultivating produce/manufacturing products, but also a positive and supportive workplace for their employees. This packaging/supply chain expert will be responsible for driving standardization, sustainability, compliance, and innovation in packaging operations across the company. The National Packaging Manager role is a remote opportunity with the ideal candidate residing in the Fort. Myers, Ashville or Knoxville areas.

This National Packaging Manager position has been newly added due to growth. In this exciting opportunity you will play a key role by leading out in shaping the development, standardization and execution of packaging initiatives across all locations. The ideal National Packaging Manager will be a strategic thinker with hands-on experience in packaging for perishables or food manufacturing, and a strong background in supply chain and vendor negotiations/management.

National Packaging Manager Requirements- To qualify, you should have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Packaging Science, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related discipline, preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in packaging engineering/operations, preferably in produce, perishable food manufacturing, or agriculture
  • In-depth knowledge of packaging materials, equipment, food safety standards, and sustainability practices, required
  • Strong project management, analytical, and vendor negotiation/management skills, required
  • Proven track record of managing packaging programs across multiple sites and leading cross-functional initiatives, preferred
  • Proficient in packaging design tools, Microsoft Office, CAD, and ERP systems, preferred
  • Willingness to travel around 25% to build relationships with/support regional facilities

National Packaging Manager Responsibilities- Duties for this role are:

  • Design and implement cohesive, nationwide packaging strategy supporting operational efficiency and product integrity
  • Approve and evaluate packaging materials (e.g., corrugated cartons, clamshells, films) to meet safety, durability, and shelf-life requirements while managing those vendor relationships/negotiating contracts to ensure cost-efficiency and service quality
  • Collaborate with procurement/operations teams to source sustainable packaging solutions, and R&D/sales/marketing to ensure packaging aligns with brand targets and customer expectations
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state food packaging regulations, including traceability, labeling, and recyclability standards
  • Lead key company sustainability initiatives focused on waste reduction and environmental impact improvements
  • Serve as company’s subject matter expert on packaging specifications, automation compatibility, and process optimization.
  • Analyze packaging performance metrics across regions to identify opportunities for standardization/operational improvements and cost savings
  • Conduct site visits to audit packaging practices, provide training, and implement process enhancements
