POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

 

Successful completion of accredited advanced practitioner training or physician assistant training program. Board certification as a practitioner (family or specialized) from an approved nurse practitioner program or national certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Three to four years of healthcare experience, plus a minimum of one year experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, preferable in an Orthopaedic clinic or surgical setting. State license and DEA required.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate care of orthopaedic patients, working with family practice, emergency and hospitalist providers to ensure continuity of care
  • Provide pre-op and post-op care to orthopaedic joint replacement patients, Emergency Room consults as well as minor orthopaedic procedures
  • Work with a progressive team of 3 orthopaedists
  • Maintain and update joint registry, as well as outcomes research and data analysis
  • Keep orthopaedic department up-to-date on all evidence-based protocols
  • Assist in the discharge planning for all orthopedic patients
  • Follow all total joint replacement patients after discharge from the hospital
