Job Description

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Medical Records Specialist to support the accurate processing and release of birth records. The ideal candidate thrives in a structured healthcare environment, demonstrating integrity, precision, and professionalism when handling sensitive information. This role requires strong data entry skills, clear communication, and a commitment to maintaining compliance and confidentiality.

This role is a hybrid model in Boston, Massachusetts.

Medical Records Specialist Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient data confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Accurately collect, enter, and file birth record information using VIP systems.
  • Monitor and release completed birth certificates to the State within required timelines.
  • Generate and submit monthly reports to the Department of Public Health.
  • Maintain productivity logs and meet established accuracy and timeliness standards.

Medical Records Specialist Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; associate degree in healthcare or related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in Health Information Management or as a birth registrar.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and experience abstracting data from records.
  • Proficient in EPIC, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other HIM-related software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and interpersonal communication skills; bilingual fluency (English/Spanish/Haitian Creole) preferred.
