Job Description

Mechanical Engineer – EIT (Engineer in Training)

Location: Dallas, TX 75243

Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Company

Our client is a well-respected civil and mechanical engineering firm with decades of experience delivering high-quality municipal infrastructure projects. Known for its hands-on leadership, collaborative culture, and strong client relationships, the firm combines the stability of an established company with the entrepreneurial spirit of a smaller organization.

Because of their size, team members here enjoy broad project exposure, meaningful responsibility, and close mentorship from senior engineers. This is not a place where you’ll get siloed — you’ll be trusted to contribute immediately and gain experience across a diverse range of mechanical and infrastructure design projects. For motivated professionals, there are outstanding opportunities for growth and even ownership as the firm continues to expand.

About the Role

The firm is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – EIT (Engineer in Training) to join their growing engineering team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced Professional Engineers on the design of mechanical systems that support municipal infrastructure — including pump stations, treatment plants, HVAC systems, and process piping.

As part of a smaller, collaborative team, you’ll gain hands-on exposure to multiple phases of project development — from conceptual design through construction — while building a foundation for PE licensure and long-term career growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Professional Engineers with mechanical design for water/wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, and related infrastructure.
  • Prepare mechanical layouts, piping diagrams, and equipment details using AutoCAD or Revit .
  • Support HVAC, plumbing, and process system designs, including equipment selection, energy efficiency analysis, and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Perform calculations related to fluid flow, pressure loss, and system capacity under the guidance of licensed engineers.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Participate in field assessments, equipment evaluations, and construction phase support.
  • Collaborate with civil, electrical, and structural teams to deliver integrated design solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • EIT certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • 0–4 years of mechanical design experience (internship or entry-level).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD , Revit , and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with HVAC, plumbing, or process system design standards.
  • Excellent communication skills and desire to grow in a collaborative, mentorship-driven environment.
  • Prior experience with municipal, water/wastewater, or industrial mechanical systems a plus.

Why Join?

  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.
  • Hands-on project involvement across a variety of infrastructure types.
  • Direct mentorship and training from licensed Professional Engineers.
  • Defined pathway toward PE licensure and future leadership opportunities.
  • Collaborative culture with exposure to multidisciplinary projects.
  • Flexible, hybrid work environment (initially in-office).
