Job Description

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer R&D

Location: Peoria, IL Type: Full-time

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Engineer with 5+ years of experience in CAD design, enclosure design, and hands-on fabrication. The ideal candidate will have a background in working with materials used in hospitals, knowledge of US wiring standards, and practical expertise in 3D printing, CNC machining, metal cutting, woodworking, and enclosure design for electronic or medical devices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and develop CAD models, including enclosures, quickly and efficiently for prototyping and production.
  2. Understand and work with various materials, particularly those used in hospital environments and medical devices.
  3. Ensure enclosure and product designs meet US wiring standards and comply with relevant regulations (e.g., NEC).
  4. Operate 3D printers, CNC machines, and metal-cutting tools for prototyping and fabrication.
  5. Perform wood cutting and related fabrication tasks when required.
  6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers and product managers, to meet project requirements.
  7. Provide technical documentation, compliance reports, and detailed design specifications.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor/ master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  2. 5+ years of experience in CAD design, with a focus on enclosure design for electronics or medical devices.
  3. Knowledge of materials and standards used in medical environments.
  4. Familiarity with US electrical wiring codes and compliance regulations.
  5. Hands-on experience with 3D printing, metal cutting, CNC machining, and woodworking.
  6. Strong problem-solving skills and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in the healthcare industry or medical device enclosure design.
  2. Familiarity with rapid prototyping techniques and design for manufacturability.
