Are you a hands-on problem solver who thrives on pushing the boundaries of materials performance? Do you live for the challenge of making things work when they shouldn’t, especially when it comes to bonding, brazing, and prototyping? If that sounds like you, we want you on our team.
About the Role:
We are seeking a Materials Engineer to support our R&D and manufacturing engineering teams, with a strong focus on bonding and brazing ceramics to metal, materials troubleshooting, and applied materials development. This is a highly technical, hands-on role that demands creativity, tenacity, and deep knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead materials R&D and prototype development for new products and applications
· Troubleshoot complex bonding and brazing issues, especially involving ceramics and dissimilar materials
· Work hands-on with materials, tools, and processes including machining, metrology, and thermal equipment
· Conduct root cause analysis when materials or processes fail to perform as expected
· Operate and analyze data from scientific test equipment
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into process solutions
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Materials Science & Engineering or related field
· Minimum 5 years of experience in materials engineering or process development
· Strong knowledge of materials chemistry and metallurgy
· Experience with bonding and brazing, particularly to ceramic substrates
· Skilled in operating and interpreting results from metrology tools, including CMMs
· Experience with machining processes and tools
· Comfortable using or learning tools like Keyence systems and dilatometry equipment
· Passion for hands-on problem solving and experimentation
Ideal Candidate Will Be:
· Inherently curious and relentlessly driven to figure out “why”
· Someone who prefers rolling up their sleeves and working directly with materials and processes, not just analyzing data from a desk
· Detail-oriented, precise, and not afraid to challenge assumptions
· A team player who can work independently and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical colleagues
