Job Description

The Lube and Die Technician provides a support function for the Production and Maintenance groups. The Technician will follow machine specifications to assure the proper lubes are being used, maintained and when spent, assure the proper handling and disposal of the lube product. The Technician will also evaluate dies – both new and existing dies to assure the dies are ready for production and stored in a manner to prevent damage and assure integrity. The Technician will also assure that proper associated inventories are maintained.

Essential Job Functions

  • Can understand lube requirements through machine diagrams or written instructions.
  • Understands the handling and use of lubricants.
  • Understands associated material MSDS and HMIS requirements.
  • Complete yearly RCRA Hazardous Waste Training.
  • Complete OSHA Hazard Communication Video and Test.
  • Complete the Hazardous Communication Data Sheets Video and Tests.
  • Sign manifests for Hazardous Waste pickup and removal.
  • Can maintain inventory systems for associated lubricant materials.
  • Can maintain work areas in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Understands the calibration requirements for all associated measuring equipment.
  • Able to organize and maintain die inventories.
  • Able to generate Purchase Requisition documents as required.
  • Possess mobile dexterity to climb up and down in the pits, clean tanks and maneuver forklifts.

  Job Requirements

  • Able to use measuring equipment to evaluate new dies and evaluate the wear of used dies.
  • Effectively use a microscope to evaluate die condition.
  • Must be flexible to accomplish/complete work during time when equipment is available.
  • May be asked to work in or with other functions.
  • Desired Skills and Abilities
  • Can read and understand dimensional requirements for dies. Information may be derived from prints and specification documents.
  • Able to understand lubrication requirements from machine manuals or established Maintenance Schedules.
  • Able to use basic measuring equipment such as micrometers, gauge pins and optical measurement systems.
  • Able to understand dimensional requirements from prints or specification documents.
  • Assist in engineering activities related to the rod mill/tin/multi-wire operation.
  • Able to follow and support applicable ISO/OSHA requirements.

Qualifications

  • Completion of High School, GED or equivalent.
  • Understand the operation of the plated and draw process and the associated materials preferred.
  • Experience in handling, using and disposal of lubricants and other materials preferred.
  • Computer experience desired; job specific computer training will be provided.
