Job Description
We are seeking an experienced, creative and detail-oriented Logistics Specialist to join our team. The Logistics Specialist will manage from start to finish, the flow of product from suppliers, mainly in the US to customers worldwide and a growing portfolio of products being imported into the US. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of logistics systems and processes, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to take the initiative, work independently and bring solutions to a variety of daily issues and requirements to ensure our company maintains a competitive advantage in the market.
Responsibilities
- Be an essential conduit between internal purchasers, sales, loading warehouses, trucking vendors, documentation, ocean lines and end customers to ensure order flow is accurate, constant within agreed shipment period.
- Ensure that suppliers are well-connected to logistics plans and team members are aware of evolving customer production and logistics constraints.
- Process customer orders and ensure timely delivery within agreed contract terms.
- Understand and adopt the internal order management system to accurately enter shipping information and check orders for accuracy.
- Understand rapidly changing origin rules and constraints supporting the shipment of frozen proteins and also destination customs and customer formalities to ensure product is able to flow without interruption.
- Work closely with documentation department to provide accurate information in an extremely time-sensitive manner.
- Embody and exhibit high level of communication and sense of urgency up and down the supply-chain to ensure that all parties are aware of plans, issues and remedial actions.
- Proactively develop, recommend and implement cost savings and/or service improvement programs in support of the transportation strategy.
- Nurture mutually beneficial relationships between outside partners such as warehouses and cold storages, transportation carriers and ocean lines.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. An extended length of experience in logistics, particularly in frozen proteins and food without a formal degree will also be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management
- Working understanding Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Able to work independently and take initiative
Preferred Skills and qualifications
- Experience in the export of frozen proteins with a manufacturer or trader.
- Understanding and proven experience with import processes and regulations particularly of food, beverage and other like commodities.
- Experience in analytics using Excel and/or Power-Bi.
- Prior negotiation dealing with rates and contracts of Ocean carriers.
- Understanding of trucking terminology and prior experience dealing with inland transportation providers.
- Bilingual
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
