Reports To: Laboratory Manager / Medical Director

Position Summary:

We are seeking a qualified and dependable Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) for a contract position to perform routine and complex laboratory testing across multiple disciplines. This role is critical to supporting clinical diagnostics, patient care, and medical decision-making in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while adhering to quality and safety standards.

3:00pm - 11:30pm, 40 hours, EOW

Start date: 8/11 or ASAP

ASCP certification is preferred

2 years of experience, must have prior travel experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine and specialized laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, microbiology, chemistry, immunology, and blood bank.
  • Analyze test results, validate accuracy, and report findings promptly to physicians and care teams.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Monitor quality control, proficiency testing, and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Collect and process specimens according to established procedures and safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Document and report incidents, errors, or deviations in test results as per protocol.
  • Support inventory management by maintaining stock levels and ordering supplies as needed.
  • Assist with training or onboarding of new lab personnel if required.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
  • Certification:
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or equivalent by ASCP is required.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Proficiency across multiple testing disciplines is highly desirable.
