Position Title: Insulator

Purpose of the position

Will perform assigned duties as an Amentum employee onsite at the NASA Johnson Space Center worksite.

Principal Responsibilities of the Position

• Material take-offs

• Wrap Metal Arm flex, blankets, hard insulation, duct wrap

• Metal & Material Layouts

• Fabrication of:

• 90’s and 45’s

• T’s equal & unequal

• Laterals equal & unequal

• Bevels 45’s & unequal

• End Caps

• Flanges

• Expansion joints

• Valves

• Tank Heads

• Install canvas & mastic

• Cold insulation application sealers & mastic

• Climb and work off scaffold

• Work in confined spaces

• Use all hand tools associated with insulation work (tin snips, end nippers, trowels, etc.)

• Use band saw

• Current Asbestos Worker Certification (32 hour class)

Education and Experience Requirements

• Must have a strong background in all Phases of Insulating work.

• Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment background questionnaire.

• Referral must provide documentation to support qualifications.

• Insuring quality and completeness of work as well as insuring areas worked are clean, neat and ready for Customers’ needs when complete.

• Must have a High School Diploma

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.

• Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).

• Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.

• Must have, and maintain, a valid Texas driver’s license.

Special Knowledge and Skills Required

• This position is located onsite at NASA JSC and requires US Citizenship.

• Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment background questionnaire.

• Clean, neat and professional personal appearance.

• Must pass Asbestos physical and be able to wear a respirator as needed.

• Will insure quality and completeness of work in a safe and timely manner as well as insuring areas worked are clean, neat and ready for Customers’ needs when complete.

Physical Requirements

• Must have the ability to communicate the English language both verbally and written in an effective manner.

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.

• Dexterity to operate office and field equipment as required by the position.

• In good physical shape/condition for climbing in and out of tight restricted working areas, as applicable.

• MUST BE ABLE TO WORK IN RESPIRATOR AND PASS ASBESTOS RESPIRATOR PHYSICAL

Preferences

• Prior knowledge of NASA site, experienced with working on government installations preferred.
