What Will You Do?

The Leadership & Professional Development Instructor (facilitator) is responsible for facilitating enterprise-wide leadership & professional development offerings for the associates and leaders of Ashley Furniture Industries. Leadership and Professional Development offerings will encompass general professional development programs, where the focus is on helping associates develop new skills or abilities, to leadership development programs, where the focus is on helping leaders develop or enhance the capabilities, competencies and confidence needed to lead teams and execute organizational strategies. This role will be required to partner with functional business leadership and the human resources community in identifying learning requirements and communicate resource needs to senior management and the business.

Additional responsibilities may include partnering with third-party companies to deliver integrated curriculum, supporting rotational development programs, conducting learning needs analysis, and maintaining training facilities and equipment. This role will also track learning outcomes to measure learning effectiveness and impacts to Ashley's overall goals and objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Leadership & Professional Development programs and initiatives for associates and leaders throughout the Ashley Furniture Industries organization, either in-person or remotely.
  • Maintain leadership & professional development curriculum in partnership with Leadership & Professional Development leadership, Program Managers, other departmental members, and learning experience designers assigned to the various programs / offerings.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction of assigned courses using a variety of teaching methods to facilitate the learning of employees.Depending on program/discipline, courses may be taught in a classroom, lab, one on one, and/or online and may include different shifts/time zones.
  • Assess training success/effectiveness. Create and administer evaluations (written, verbal, competency demonstration and hands-on application). Compile the information in a manner that includes making recommendations for improvements in delivery, material, or format.
  • Responsible for classroom management including maintaining attendance, competency assessment and learning metrics.
  • Maintain qualifications but continue to increase professional/technical knowledge and skills including currency in assigned discipline, required occupational certification/licensing, and instructional technology/delivery methods to support Ashley's overall goals and objectives.
  • Become a subject matter expert in facilitation methods, techniques, and execution.
  • Perform tasks such as relationship building with partners and customers.
  • Also responsible for building class/program rosters, scheduling & graduating classes, sending out post class surveys/follow-up materials.
  • Physically sets up classes & equipment while coordinating enrollment, all materials, logistics, food & beverages and finally administration of learning events while being mindful of costs to be as effective and efficient as possible.

What Do You Need?

  • Bachelor’s degree. Will consider 5 years of equivalent work experience. Required
  • 3 years of experience leading a team or organization--required
  • 1 year of experience facilitating leadership and/or professional development offerings for an organization--required.
  • Certified Training Facilitator or Coach--preferred
  • Certification in behavioral assessments (Example: DiSC, 360, EI, etc)--preferred
  • Strong business leadership knowledge (e.g. leadership, business)
  • Understanding of leadership competencies and requirements at all levels of leadership
  • Ability to articulate and align those competencies with training
  • Working knowledge and understanding of adult learning theory, instructional (meaning-facilitation) methodologies, learning management systems, blended learning resources, tools and techniques
  • Strong attention to detail, time management & organization
  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of leadership
  • Excellent verbal and written & interpersonal communication skills
  • Work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously within established time constraints
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite, internet, AI utilization
  • Perform well under strong demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Work professionally with customers and co-workers to efficiently serve our customers, treating both with enthusiasm, dignity and respect
  • Display empathy, understanding and patience with employees and external customers
  • Respond professionally in situations with difficult employee/vendor/customer issues or inquiries
  • Moderate Domestic Travel as needed
