Job Description

Ring & DuChateau, a collaborative team of over 90 professionals including engineers, designers, technicians, and support staff, is dedicated to engineering design excellence and superior service. We are seeking an HVAC Project Engineer to join our HVAC department, with positions available in Brookfield, WI, or Madison, WI. This role is ideal for professionals who are committed to delivering outstanding service to clients.

Our team is comprised of highly educated and experienced professionals, capable of handling projects of all sizes and complexities. We approach each project with a unique perspective, crafting innovative solutions that enhance operational life and efficiency while minimizing costs. Through clear and effective communication with project owners and partners, we create a truly collaborative design process that consistently delivers exceptional results, encouraging clients to return to Ring & DuChateau for their building systems design needs.

In this role you will:

  1. Prepare project specifications, basis of design, design intent, proposals, and fee budgets. Coordinate the preparation of design details, plans, and drawings within the assigned discipline.
  2. Follow instructions in designing, estimating, managing start-up, and planning jobs. Troubleshoot issues and refer complex problems to the project manager.
  3. Assist in supervising, scheduling, and reviewing the work of project team members. Provide limited coordination with outside contractors and collaborate closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
  4. Communicate effectively with all parties to understand and resolve conflicts, escalating unresolved issues to the project manager. Monitor construction costs and ensure quality installation for assigned projects while tracking job status and controlling costs.
  5. Implement quality assurance programs to improve client satisfaction. Assume engineering duties when appropriate and apply standard engineering concepts and procedures.
  6. Review and integrate vendor and client drawings, preparing comprehensive construction documents that meet client and project team requirements. Coordinate design efforts across disciplines and recommend necessary changes or modifications to projects.
  7. Respond to RFIs and prepare change bulletins under supervision. Conduct job site surveys, field observations, and develop project punch lists as needed.
  8. Coordinate project assignments with other engineers and technicians, delegating tasks to engineers, designers, and BIM technicians. Simultaneously manage the drawing and design of complex projects, research code issues, and document findings to report to supervising engineers.
  9. Interact with clients, assist with technical studies and assessments, and perform additional duties as assigned by management.

You will need to have:

  • A minimum of 7+ years of experience with an engineering consulting firm or AIE firm is preferred, with a focus on design for healthcare, institutional, commercial, educational, municipal, and industrial projects, or construction engineering.
  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • A professional engineer or registered designer stamp with demonstrated experience is essential.
  • Proficiency with the latest versions of Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite, along with strong organizational and planning skills, is necessary to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, an understanding of job financial reports, and a commitment to continuous learning, including attending seminars and professional development programs.

At Ring & DuChateau, we pride ourselves on our employee-centric culture, which is designed to support the interests, goals, and needs of our team members. When you join us, we make it a priority to understand your interests and assign you to projects that will help you grow your talent and experience.
