Job Description

Join our client, a mid-size hemp technology pioneer (51-200 employees) based in the South region, operating from state-of-the-art FDA-registered facilities. Our client's culture embodies innovation, scientific excellence, and strict compliance standards as they transition from hemp processing into the expanding wellness and dietary supplement markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead benchtop formulation and scale-up of topical products including creams, balms, body oils, and alcohol sprays to achieve commercial production targets
  • Develop and optimize stable formulations integrating active cannabinoids, menthol, and botanical extracts while ensuring FDA compliance
  • Train production technicians on manufacturing techniques and provide ongoing technical support to maintain quality consistency across 20+ product formulations
  • Create comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and manufacturing documentation to meet cGMP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, quality, and supply chain teams to deliver custom formulation projects and support business development initiatives
  • Troubleshoot production issues and monitor batch quality to ensure successful commercial-scale manufacturing outcomes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, Materials Science, or Food Science required
  • 2-3+ years hands-on topical product formulation experience with creams, lotions, balms, and emulsion-based products
  • Strong technical expertise in emulsion chemistry, preservative systems, and active ingredient integration into stable formulations
  • Proven experience with FDA cosmetic regulations, cGMP manufacturing standards, and scale-up from bench-top to commercial production
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, troubleshoot complex formulation challenges, and train production staff in fast-paced environments
