The Sound Technician is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of all sound systems in the various entertainment venues for a variety of produced entertainment, events and activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, repair, inspection and troubleshooting of all shipboard sound systems in the various entertainment venues.
· Participates in the set up and break down, assembly and disassembly of sound equipment and related equipment for functions including, but not limited to, groups, charters, affinity, promotional, incentive, presentations, cruise staff events and activities and various theme night arrangements.
· Meets with Headliners, Guest Entertainers and groups to obtain all sound-related requirements for upcoming rehearsals, shows or activities; and creates / updates the relevant showfiles accordingly.
· Maintains the Technical & Artistic Integrity of all produced entertainment as it was originally designed and installed. Prior to making any changes to the original design, written approval from the Royal Caribbean International Miami Office, Entertainment Division must be obtained.
· Ensures that all non-essential equipment is powered off when not in use.
· Can expect to be on a duty rotation to carry out duties as assigned by the Stage Production Manager(s) and/or Head Sound and Light Technician. These duties include, but are not limited to:
- on boarding day, all venues are ready for boarding as per Stage Production Manager(s) instructions;
- entertainment venues are open or closed as per the room schedule(s);
- all USPH guidelines are followed as per Stage Production Manager(s) instructions; and
- all working spaces remaining clean and organized in a professional working manner.
· Responsible for:
- the maintenance of the various entertainment venues’ sound related equipment; and
- completing AMOS Work Orders issued by the Stage Production Manager(s) and Head Sound and Light Technician.
· Works closely with the Head Sound and Light Technician to ensure that:
- speakers in all entertainment venues onboard are inspected once every two weeks;
- all air filters on sound and lighting equipment with cooling fans are removed, cleaned of dust using an air compressor, rinsed with water, dried and replaced at least once per month;
- there is sufficient stock of spare speaker drivers onboard for the various entertainment venues onboard;
- there is sufficient stock of spare consumables and any other parts necessary for routine maintenance and equipment replacement;
- all equipment racks are cleaned of dust at least once per month
- blown speaker drivers are replaced as soon as possible.
- if any approved changes are made to the sound systems, these changes must be noted on the electrical drawings and schematics for that venue.
· Conducts daily shipboard rounds to ensure that:
- all equipment racks receive the required HVAC airflow to maintain normal operating temperature;
- there are no water leaks in any relevant technical rooms; and
- all working spaces are clean and organized in a professional working manner.
· Communicates all shipboard sound maintenance needs with the Technical Director Entertainment (where applicable), Stage Production Manager(s) and Head Sound and Light Technician.
· Must inform the Technical Director Entertainment (Where applicable), Stage Production Manager(s) or Head Sound and Light Technician of any required equipment for any installations, repairs, projects or equipment purchases.
· Must inform the Head Sound and Light Technician of any updated maintenance logs in order for this to reflect on the Sound and Light Technician Work Progress Report.
· Coordinates with Stage Production Manager(s) and Head Sound and Light Technician to ensure that accurate and up-to-date records of sound related equipment are kept. This includes, but is not limited to, inventory, maintenance, guarantee claimed items and any items landed for repair and expected to return to the ship.
