Job Description

A leading industrial manufacturing company is looking to appoint an EHS Manager to oversee the EHS function at one of their key locations in the Montgomery, Alabama area.

The EHS Manager will serve as the main point of contact for the management team in promoting a safe and healthy workplace. Additionally, they will lead compliance with all health and safety regulations and permitting as it pertains to operations and disposal. will oversee three direct reports. The role also includes direct oversight of a team of three EHS professionals.

The Role:

  • Establish, develop, and maintain EHS programs and policies.
  • Lead reporting, training, and coordinate with other departments to ensure compliance with local, state and federal guidelines.
  • Develop and implement inspection policies and procedures, and schedule routine inspections.
  • Prepare, schedule, and present training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
  • Prepare Hazardous Waste Management, Wastewater Treatment, and Safety budgets.
  • Maintain records of discharge or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, including cost, as required.
  • Coordinate pickup, consolidation, and proper storage of hazardous waste materials.
  • Lead accident and near miss investigations.
  • Assist with preparation of all OSHA and worker’s compensation reports and assessments.

The Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field required
  • Master’s degree desirable.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical technology and environmental codes and permits.
  • Hazwoper experience preferred.
  • Certification in professional treatment organization (REM or CHMM).
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
