What do we need:

Under the direction of the ECE Services Manager, this management position is responsible for oversight and assisting in the implementation of quality services to children and families in center-based programming. Duties include assisting in the total responsibility for the center’s daily operations, including maintaining healthy staffing levels and enrollment, Implementation of all center-based policies and procedures as well as for ensuring the center offers an enriching, equitable, trauma-responsive, and instructional environment to support children’s early learning, social emotional development, and school readiness. This position is also responsible for acting as a liaison with parents, staff, internal and external collaborative partners. The Educational Services Assistant Manager partners with the Early Childhood Education Services Manager and Director of Early Childhood Education and other education leadership to continually evaluate and strengthen the quality and impact of People Serving People’s education programming. This position may require teaching in the classroom or in any open position.

Responsibilities :

  • Supervises lead teachers, teachers, staff, partners, and volunteers.
  • Understands the social-emotional needs of children who have experienced homelessness or are highly mobile.
  • Understands and can implement and build on the trauma-informed framework developed in the classrooms.
  • Must know, understand, and ensure adherence to Minnesota Rule 9503 licensing requirements
  • Must know, understand, and ensure adherence to all additional operational guidelines (i.e., Parent Aware, Strong Beginnings, accreditation)
  • Remains current on all Early Learning (Pathway) Scholarship information, CCAP funding, and other funding opportunities.
  • Assists in responsibility for adhering to and monitoring of the respective center annual budget.
  • Assists teachers in developing goals, which guide curriculum and lesson planning.
  • Assists in researching and connecting with external organizations for field trips or other onsite programming.
  • Maintains and cultivates collaboration with People Serving People’s shelter-based programs.
  • Maintains and cultivates relationships with collaborative agencies (i.e., MPS and others).
  • Assists in enrollment planning and improvements to ensure the center maintains a healthy and sustainable student enrollment.
  • Partners with the People & Culture department to ensure the center is remaining fully compliant with Child and Adult Care Food Program requirements and guidelines.
  • Maintains daily, monthly, and yearly statistics via Brightwheel and Salesforce.
  • Assists in the establishment of parameters around staffing and scheduling and monitors to meet staffing requirements.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with families and handles parent concerns.
  • Responsible for comprehensive communication to staff, participants, and internal/external partners regarding day-to-day activities of the center. Communication may include (but not limited to) newsletters, memos, phone calls, emails, face-to-face meetings, and flyers.
  • In partnership with the Director or Early Childhood Education and ECE Program Leadership, plan for appropriate professional development for all staff working in ECE.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Early Childhood Education Services Manager.

Pay and Benefits:

  • $57,200 - $63,780 annually
  • Full-Time, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

  • BA/BS degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or closely related field
  • Minimum three years’ supervisory experience required. One year of supervisor experience may be substituted with five years of demonstrated experience or increasing responsibility in a DHS licensed center.
  • Two years of experience teaching in an early childhood setting required.
  • 2-5 years’ experience working with multi-cultural, socially diverse populations.
  • Experience and knowledge of the Department of Minnesota Human Services Child Care Licensing Rule 3.
  • CPR and First Aid Certified or able to be certified within 90 days (about 3 months) of employment.
  • Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care principles and models.
  • Knowledge of the developmental and emotional needs of young children.
  • Knowledge of the methods and procedures used in a child development center.
  • Able to complete overdose response training within six months.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a Minnesota state driver’s license and pass annual motor vehicle records checks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or knowledge of state scholarships and CCAP, including invoicing.
  • Experience or knowledge of Parent Aware and/or NECPA accreditation standards.

Computer Skills :

  • Highly competent with Microsoft software including Outlook, Word, Excel, and the Microsoft365 suite of applications including Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
  • Experience using and administering childcare management software (e.g., Brightwheel) and database software (e.g., Salesforce) highly desired.
