Logistics Director, Food Manufacturing

Houston, TX

Our client, a global manufacturer of nutraceuticals, is seeking a Logistics Director for their worldwide manufacturing facility in Houston. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role with a unique opportunity to take ownership of logistics strategy. This Director is responsible for designing and implementing a high-performance logistics strategy that ensures cost efficiency, service reliability and supply chain resilience.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure efficient logistics network design, optimizing transportation routes, warehouse locations and supplier relationships.
  • Oversee supplier contracts and lead cost forecasting and control across the global logistics network.
  • Serve as advisor in cross-functional initiatives such as new product introductions and manufacturing evaluations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure logistics strategies and support broader business goals.
  • Forecast inventory tax, inventory and logistics insurance as well as customs handling across the global supply chain.
  • Establish and manage SLAs with suppliers, ensuring high service levels while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, operational improvements and supply chain efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in logistics, SCM, business or related field required; Masters degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of proven experience in logistics, SCM or transportation, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Food, pharmaceutical or nutraceutical manufacturing highly preferred.
  • Expertise in logistics network design, supplier negotiations and cost optimization.
  • Strategic and innovative while also hands-on and tactical.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and cost analysis tools.
  • Experience initiating and leading change management initiatives required.
  • International experience required.
