Job Description

Job Title: Construction Manager

Location: Columbus, OH

Duration : 4 months

Rate: $60 - $65/hour - 1.5X OT

Hours : 50 hours/week

Overview

The client is seeking a Construction Manager to oversee the commercial construction and building systems portion of a power plant project. This individual will be responsible for driving the work of contractors and subcontractors, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence, with the goal of completing remaining construction activities by late January to early February.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day activities of contractors and subcontractors on the commercial building scope
  • Drive progress to meet project milestones and final turnover schedule
  • Monitor installation and completion of building systems including:
  • Fire alarms and life safety systems
  • Electrical distribution and controls
  • HVAC and mechanical systems
  • Sprinkler and fire suppression systems
  • Building automation systems and controls
  • Supervise interior finish work (doors, glass, drywall, ceilings, flooring, etc.)
  • Coordinate completion of specialty systems such as elevators and fireproofing
  • Conduct field inspections to verify quality, code compliance, and adherence to design specifications
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the owner’s project team and contractors, escalating and resolving issues quickly
  • Enforce safety standards and maintain a productive jobsite environment

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of construction management experience with a focus on commercial/industrial building systems
  • Proven track record completing late-phase projects under tight deadlines
  • Experience managing multiple subcontractors across disciplines (MEP, finishes, life safety, etc.)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to drive contractors toward completion while maintaining quality and safety standards
