Job Description

Civil EIT (Engineer in Training)

Location: Dallas, TX 75243

Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Company

Our client is a well-respected civil engineering firm with decades of experience delivering high-quality municipal infrastructure projects. Known for its hands-on leadership, collaborative culture, and strong client relationships, this firm combines the stability of an established company with the entrepreneurial spirit of a smaller organization.

Because of their size, team members here enjoy broad project exposure, meaningful responsibility, and close mentorship from senior engineers. This is not a place where you’ll get siloed — you’ll be trusted to contribute immediately and gain experience across a diverse range of civil engineering projects. For motivated professionals, there are outstanding opportunities for growth and even ownership as the firm continues to expand.

About the Role

The firm is seeking a Civil EIT (Engineer in Training) to join their growing team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for a driven, technically minded professional who wants to learn directly from experienced PEs and work on impactful municipal infrastructure projects.

As part of a smaller, collaborative team, you’ll have hands-on exposure to all aspects of civil design and project development — from initial planning and modeling to final construction documents. This position is ideal for someone eager to build a strong foundation toward licensure and long-term career growth within a respected local firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Professional Engineers with the design and production of civil engineering plans and reports.
  • Prepare preliminary and final utility, paving, grading, and drainage plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D .
  • Perform calculations, quantity take-offs, and plan preparation under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Support municipal infrastructure design projects, including water/wastewater systems, roadways, and storm drainage.
  • Conduct field investigations and assist with construction phase support as needed.
  • Collaborate with peers and mentors to ensure high-quality project deliverables.
  • Participate in project meetings and client coordination efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • EIT certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • 0–4 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Prior internship or coursework related to municipal infrastructure design preferred.

Why Join?

  • Competitive compensation and benefits.
  • Hands-on experience across a variety of municipal and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong mentorship and training from licensed Professional Engineers.
  • Career path toward PE licensure and long-term advancement.
  • Collaborative culture and exposure to every phase of project delivery.
  • Flexible, hybrid work environment (initially in-office).
