The Role

As Chief AI Officer (CAIO), you will be responsible for defining and executing their AI strategy, leading R&D initiatives, and building scalable AI-driven robotics solutions. You will play a key role in transitioning their AI architecture from traditional models to advanced foundation models, LLMs, and vision-language models (VLMs). You will be instrumental in shaping their AI team, driving partnerships, and positioning us as a leader in intelligent automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • AI Strategy & Vision: Define and execute the company’s AI roadmap, driving innovation in robotics intelligence and autonomy.
  • Technology Leadership: Develop cutting-edge AI systems for robot perception, control, and real-time decision-making in dynamic environments.
  • AI & Robotics Integration: Lead the development of AI models for SLAM, perception, motion planning, and learning-based control.
  • Cloud & Edge AI Deployment: Architect and implement hybrid cloud/edge AI infrastructure, optimizing AI inference pipelines.
  • Research & Development: Stay at the forefront of AI advancements, applying state-of-the-art techniques to real-world robotic applications.
  • Leadership & Team Building: Recruit, mentor, and lead a world-class AI team, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with leading robotics, AI, and cloud technology partners to accelerate innovation.

What They’re Looking For

  • AI/ML Expertise in Robotics: Strong background in AI-driven robotics, with hands-on experience in perception, SLAM, and autonomous systems.
  • Deep Learning & Computer Vision: Proficiency in AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, CUDA, and embedded AI platforms (Jetson, TensorRT).
  • Hands-on Engineering: Strong coding skills in Python and C++ with experience in AI model development, training, and deployment.
  • Cloud & Embedded AI: Knowledge of cloud/edge computing frameworks like AWS IoT Greengrass, Kubernetes, and microservices for robotics.
  • Startup & Leadership Mindset: Experience in scaling AI teams and leading AI-driven product development in early-stage startups.
  • Industry Experience: Background in robotics, aerospace, or AI research; experience at companies like NVIDIA, Amazon Robotics, SpaceX, or OpenAI is a plus.
  • Advanced Degree Preferred: PhD or Master’s in AI, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field.
