Our team is growing. Optimum is hiring a full-time Carpenter/Laborer to help us continue this great work and serve as a key member of our team. This position will be responsible for carpentry tasks, including measuring, cutting, and assembling wood, as well as performing general labor duties such as site preparation, material handling, and maintaining a clean work environment. A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions efficiently on construction projects are essential for this role.

Essential Functions

Carpentry Duties :

  • Measure, cut, and assemble wooden structures or fixtures according to project specifications.
  • Install wood components such as doors, windows, flooring, and trim.
  • Repair and replace damaged wooden structures as needed.
  • Use a variety of hand tools (saws, hammers, drills, etc.) and power tools (circular saw, nail gun, etc.) safely.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or construction drawings.
  • Build frameworks, scaffolding, or supports for construction projects.

General Labor Duties :

  • Assist with loading and unloading materials at the job site.
  • Clean and prepare work areas to ensure safe and efficient working conditions.
  • Assist with moving materials and supplies to different areas of the job site.
  • Operate and maintain machinery and equipment used on the job site.
  • Remove debris, trash, and hazardous materials from the site.

Safety Compliance :

  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety goggles, gloves, and hearing protection as required.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are in good working condition and report any malfunctions.

Team Collaboration :

  • Work closely with other team members, including carpenters, laborers, and supervisors, to complete tasks on time.
  • Communicate effectively with other team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of projects.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a carpenter or laborer in the construction industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and carpentry tools.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and blueprints.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Physical strength and stamina to perform manual labor tasks.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures and work site safety.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
