The Fleet Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for:

The accurate and timely repair and maintenance of company owned vehicles and customer vehicles, including passenger vehicles and light and medium-duty trucks

  • This includes but is not limited to: engine repair, gas and diesel, automatic transmission/ transaxle diagnosis and repair, manual transmission/transaxle diagnosis and repair, suspension and steering diagnosis and repair, brakes diagnosis and repair, including ABS/traction control, electrical diagnosis and repair, heating and air conditioning diagnosis and repair, engine performance diagnosis and repair.
  • Complete all paperwork, including, repair information on work orders, information for state and emission inspections, etc., with accuracy
  • Verify repairs are properly completed by re-testing repaired system to ensure proper function and road tests vehicles, as necessary, to identify concerns or validate repair.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of specialized skills, and continue to develop additional technical skills, to enable flexibility in work assignments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent; , Associate’s Degree in Automotive Technology desirable. and 3+ years applicable experience as an Automotive Technician strongly preferred
  • Ability to accurately repair vehicles using advanced automotive diagnostic equipment and provide technical guidance at a level normally acquired through the completion of six (6) years as an automotive technician.
  • National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or Manufacturer Certification as a “Master Automotive Technician”, or the equivalent knowledge and experience with the ability to attain the required certifications within 12 months of hire.
  • State Safety and Emissions license- as required by state location
  • Freon handling license for R12 and 134A refrigerant.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with an excellent driving record and the ability to operate passenger vehicles and light/medium duty trucks with automatic and manual transmissions.
  • Ability to pass a physical examination required by the Department of Transportation and must obtain and maintain the certificate for the duration of employment in the position.
