Location: Reston, VA

Salary: $70,000 - $90,000

Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Civil engineer with a strong background in the solid waste industry, site design, and land development. The ideal candidate will possess advanced AutoCAD Civil 3D skills, coupled with 2–3 years of hands-on experience in civil site design projects, including commercial properties, shopping centers, landfills, and landfill expansions/closures. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects while building relationships with clients and overseeing design and construction.

• Prepares and reviews engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and permit applications.
• Manage projects and personnel to meet both client and SCS expectations
• Makes decisions independently on engineering or scientific problems and methods, plans and coordinates work, and represent at meetings and conferences.
• Field work in varied terrain and weather will be required, including but not limited to, surveys/data gathering, construction quality assurance, inspections, etc.
• Office-based tasks including: CAD drafting, mathematical calculations, report writing, site planning and facility design, permit applications, etc.
• Receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans or projects.
• Travel (day trips or overnight, 10% of travel expected)

Must Haves:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering or related engineering major
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the solid waste industry, civil site design, or land development.
• Competent with using MS Office and other computer software normally used in environmental consulting.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D design software
• Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required.

• E.I.T. required, P.E. preferred
