Job Description

Our client, a successful private label apparel company, is seeking a highly creative and detail-oriented Assistant Sweater Designer to join their dynamic design team. This role is perfect for someone who is trend-savvy, organized, and eager to grow their expertise in knitwear design. The ideal candidate brings strong sketching abilities, proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, and either existing sweater knowledge or a keen interest in learning the category.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of sweaters across multiple categories, including girls, tween, juniors, and missy.
  • Create detailed sketches with stitch and artwork modifications using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Research seasonal trends, stitches, colors, and yarns to inspire designs.
  • Maintain seasonal design files, track samples, and manage internal documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with technical design, production, and sales teams throughout the development cycle.
  • Participate in fittings and design meetings to support product execution.
  • Conduct trend research through shopping the market, online channels, and social media.
  • Communicate daily with overseas vendors regarding yarn sourcing and sample development.
  • Assist with tech pack creation for proto sample development.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Elevated trend awareness and strong aesthetic point of view.
  • Passion for retail, social media, and influencer-driven trend discovery.
  • Foundational knowledge of sweater construction (gauges, stitches, yarns) or strong motivation to learn knitwear.

This role is onsite 5 days
