About the Role:

Our client is a leading developer in the autonomous vehicle and delivery robot industry and is looking to find detail-oriented professionals for the position of Autonomous Vehicle Field Safety Driver. In this role, you will play a crucial part in advancing cutting-edge autonomous vehicle technology while ensuring the highest safety standards. Responsibilities

Daily Expectations for Your Role

Your position is multifaceted, primarily focusing on ensuring the advancement and reliability of our autonomous vehicle operations. 

  • Professionally interact with riders, engineers, and operations leaders, sharing valuable insights and feedback.

  • Assisting with testing and data collection to support system advancements and operational improvements.

  • Upholding a safety-centric, inclusive, and open-communication culture.

  • Monitoring vehicle performance and conducting in-field testing to ensure operational safety.

  • Preparing vehicles daily for in-field operations, including safety checks and system readiness.

  • Submitting detailed reports to support system advancements and operational improvements.

  • Remaining alert and distraction-free while in vehicles.

Qualifications for Success

What it Takes

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience as an autonomous vehicle operator, driving instructor, motorsports racer, or similar role requiring exceptional driving skills and a commitment to safety.

  • A Valid US driving license for the last 3+ years.

  • A clean driving record with no DUI’s, drug, and/or alcohol-related offenses within the last 5 years.

  • Ability to anticipate hazardous situations and act quickly and safely, despite adverse conditions.

  • Thorough knowledge of local traffic regulations.

  • Excellent communication skills and a strong attention to detail. 

  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions and comfort on driving on different types of road.

  • Takes ownership with a high level of responsibility

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of vehicle technology

  • Certification of Vehicle technology and control systems

  • Certification from safe driving or defensive driving courses. 

  • Additional courses in Safety Driving or Defensive Driving

  • Experience in high-stress situations, including knowledge of de-escalation techniques.

Commitment:

This is a full-time, one-year contract role based in Austin, TX. Candidates must be local and available to work onsite. Shift schedule: 9 AM - 6 PM (8-hour shifts with a lunch break). Pay range: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour.
